Whoa.

I haven’t updated in SO long. Yikes. A lot has happened. Here is the low-down:

- Started my final semester at Truman.

- Because of my design work on re-elected Representative Rebecca McClanahan’s campaign, I got to go to the Inaugural Ball in Jeff City on the 12th.

The above is a picture of Amber, myself and Karianne in the Rotunda, strategically placed under some fancy words at the Capitol.

- I designed a b&w poster for Rep. McClanahan's annual photography contest (appearing around Adair County local stores and newspapers) :

- I’ve been hauling ass in Capstone class, trying to create a corporation. I’ve decided on doing a mix between Jamba Juice + Starbucks + Barnes&Noble. I’ve decided on a name, “A-Peel.” It’s a play off the “peel,” for the juice drinks and “appeal” because it appeals to all five of our senses. I’m working on perfecting a color scheme and logo for the company. Stationery set in the works.

- Big news! Some of my work from last semester got chosen to be displayed at the University of Texas at Arlington. My House of Blues redesign logo + stationery set and website made it in. Here are some quick screenshots:

- We’ve been doing some typography exercises in Capstone which have been A LOT of fun (no sarcasm). Our professor gives us a list of prompts and rules to recreate these compositions and then we go at it. We had to pick a 70-100 word phrase from a package. I chose copy from Harold and Kumar. Here are a few of my favorites (3 out of a total of about 18).

- I also designed a business card for my friend, Greg. I won’t post that because he’s sensitive about information on the Internet (as should all of you!). But they’re simple and classy.

- Also for Capstone, we had to pick one of the companies we researched about (mine being Jamba Juice), and then had to redesign their logo and identity. We had a weekend to work on it. Here is what I came up with:

- Thanks to my friend, Sarah, I have also been getting a lot of work doing some posters for the WRC (Women’s Resource Center). I created a graphic for their V-Week posters, Vagina Monologue stuff and a poster for Women’s History Month:

THINGS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK :
- Beta Omega Beta Intro Week Posters.
- Fine Arts Publications job #1 : website for a new, upcoming class.
- Fine Arts Publications job #2 : poster for music department.
- Detours : mag layouts.
- Personal business card.

I’m going to an AIGA sponsored portfolio review in STL on the 21st, so I hope that I can get my business cards drafted, designed, printed and cut up by then. I also need to update my portfolio and my resumĂ©. Yikes. Full-plate? I love it.

Oh, and socially, things have been pretty close to perfect as well. I’m finding a good balance between viscom boot camp and having a pretty badass senior year.

If this wasn’t enough of an update, well... I don’t really know what to tell you.
