Points of interest:
1. I wanted to incorporate purple, not only because it is one of my favorite colors (Matt was about ready to shoot me when I told him that) but also because duh, Truman colors.
2. I’ve always thought about what I would do if I were to do the poster for our show and one thing I knew I wanted to do for sure was to put pictures of myself and my classmates. I feel that it adds personality to the poster and when it’s up around campus, people might not know your name, but they have probably seen you around...it’s just added bonus. PLUS! Who wouldn’t want to have their face plastered on posters all across campus?
3. The white polka dots are supposed to be reminiscent of snow. I just associate snow with Kirksville.
4. The plane: I’m in aviation so when I was doodling ideas, I was in that class. I also took references from the Jack’s Mannequin CD, “Everything in Transit”:
Other plane-related references: one of the first things I ever did when I first moved to America when I was 5, was go to an airshow with my family. It was loud, cold and boring. But I kind of liked it in retrospect. The information on the poster on the lower right-hand side are outlined with airplane wing-mimicked shapes. I haven’t posted this project, but I did a project in viscom 2 for a 6-pack bottle of beer called “blitz'd” and it was airplane-themed, too (amongst other things). Also, Kenny has this really silly/cute senior picture of him in front of an airplane that I really enjoy. His hair looks really nice in it. These are just a few of my airplane-related stories.
I told myself that regardless of if I won or not, I was going to make postcards for the viscom show to insert with my graduation announcements (ugh, I just remembered I still have to take care of that per request of my mother). Here is the postcard design:

The printing services lady was SO SUPER nice to me when I had a consultation with her. We decided to set up a print-job on a 22x17 sheet of paper (standard for them, so no cutting charges there) and I will put one poster and I can fit 5-6 of the postcards on the same sheet. I will meet with Publications to help me line everything up. The side with the poster and front of the postcards will be duo-tone and the back will just be black and white. The postcards are 3.5x5.5, the smallest the USPS will deliver (thanks, USPS!).

Going to the airshow was one of my first american memories too.
