...processing...

HEY. Here are some pictures about what I’ve been up to, cooped up in my room as I prepare for my senior show.

For the backdrop of my display table, I am going for a Starbucks-appeal (ha) with chalkboard menus. This adds a fun-flirty affect to my table. I made the chalkboards myself using 2x4s, 3 applications of chalkboard paint, spray paint, lots of hours waiting and a lot of fumes inhaled.

Our kitchen table getting used for something other than shots.

To gauge how much space I need to fill for my table, I got dimensions from Matt (whilst crossing my fingers hoping that they are the correct numbers) and taped off a section of my room. (The hairdryer will not be part of the show)

Okay. Next, I started making foamcore boxes for lightboxes and to carry my collateral. I’m not going to post those pics just yet because I’m thinking of redoing one of them/I need SOME surprises for later.

Once my chalkboards dried, Jimmy helped me figure out how I was going to hang it in the gallery. We’re using velcro strips! Jimmy is a genius, love him to death. Next, I printed out some resource material and started drawing with chalk. Drawing with chalk is hard. It’s hard to control it and also, I have allergies so that’s fun. Anyway, thanks to 96 cent colored chalk and Wal-Mart, the chalkboards are lookin’ colorful and very silly/fun.

I was too lazy to rotate this picture. Here are 2 of 3 chalkboard panels. The last one has just a joke on it. I will save that for later as well.

I am going to leave you with a picture of the viscom calendar, where our professor marked our show ON THE WRONG DATE. Sigh.

Btw, our show is on the FOURTH.

  1. For clarification, on May 4th, in that photo, it says "This is the day of our show, IDIOT"

Your chalkboards are awesome, Jessica! I'm so excited to see them for real...
