The Opposite of Domestic

I have been so, so bad about updating my blogs. But that is changing TONIGHT. I've been neglecting my design blog and my beloved blogyle and as of late, this one. I blame it on my lack of night shifts (meaning none) and actually having a social life again.

My Fourth of July was spent in STL with my BFFs Joyce and Ashley (we missed you, Amber!). Here is a list of things done:

1. Pissed Ashley off
2. Ate at the Wong's restaurant (YUM)
3. Had White Castle (YUM^10000000000)
4. Still hated STL but was content for the weekend
5. Great conversation to and from
6. Made up with Ashley
7. Saw UP again

As of late, things with me have been pretty great. Tomorrow starts "staff training" with JBA. I'm bummed because my days won't be free, but glad because I won't have to stay up alone all the time. This puts me in a weird spot because the whole reason I did night monitoring was so I could spend a lot of time with Joyce and Kenny, and now that's kind of messed up. But I'm sure I'll think of a happy medium. Speaking of, today (or yesterday, since it's 12:12am) marks one month until I leave Kirksville forever (or until I visit). I've thought a lot about it, mostly right before going to bed or when I'm thinking about what is in store for me after Kirksville. I'm sad to end this chapter of my life, even sadder because this will mean I won't be able to be in face-to-face contact with some of my best friends for a very, very long time.

But enough of the sad shit.

Yesterday was really, really great. I woke up and worked out. I then hung out with Joyce. Later, I hung out with Kenny. We watched The Notebook and we made a pizza together. Something I learned: I am not domestic whatsoever. I was only really in charge of the crust and cutting up the olives. I forgot to put flour on the pan so the crust had the potential to be hard to scrape off (luckily, it worked out okay in the end). I am just so ...not confident in the kitchen, that's more Kenny's forte. After dinner (yummy in the tummy), we lounged around and watched television. While watching Good Eats, Kenny got inspired to make lemonade from scratch (pretty much). It was a success! I was very proud. Anyway, we sat around some more before watching the new episode of The Real World. I really like how we can just lounge around and not really do anything and be 100% comfortable and okay with that. Or at least I am, I guess I can't really speak for him.

Today, I moved from C-hall 570 to C-hall 516. Doesn't seem like a big move, but it was such a bitch hauling my stuff around the perimeter of C-hall. Kenny and Kurt helped me loft two beds and deloft my new bed, I am really thankful for their help. After that, I took a shower and Joyce and I had dinner with the Spady's! They made this fantastic salad that included: chicken, grapes, cheese, walnuts (that Nathan glazed himself) and other salad-like things. We hung out and talked and it was SO MUCH FUN. The Spady's are such great people AND a perfect example of a power couple. Man, I can't wait to be part of a power couple some day. I'll definitely bring my A-game.

What else.

I'm really sleepy but can't go to bed yet because I'm waiting for my laundry to finish, which include my sheets and comforter. Thinking about my goose-down comforter is making me feel drowsy. Tomorrow begins "staff training." I'm already annoyed. I'm not into get-to-know-you games nor am I into being forced to socialize. If I become friends with someone, it'll happen naturally. Cathy told me there is "staff fun" from 10pm-on. Lame. Hopefully it's optional. I could probably use a (strong) drink around that time.

I have been using the AIM app on my iPhone lately. The upgrade in the software for the AIM app definitely improved it, however, a setback is that I don't respond to IMs very efficiently when I'm on my phone.

Other then all the above, nothing else is really going on. Just trying to enjoy my last few weeks in the 'ville with the people I care about the most. With the exception for the next week weeks when I'll be with a bunch of kids and JBA staff.

- Jessica.
