I woke up around 11am and Kenny was about 2 hours away from KC! He and his bro (his real brother, not one of those Betas) drove from Des Moines to hang out for the day/celebrate Kenny's birthday with some of his friends. We all met up at Clay's. Clay has a pretty swanky bachelor's pad on 8th street in downtown KC. I got walked by a concierge to the elevator where she asked me if I was there to meet up with "those basketball players." I lol'd. She was just talking about Kenny and Matt, who are very tall. We hung around for a few hours while the guys commenced and watched college football. The Royals game was around 6pm and we took a limo! High-rollers, f'sho. It had strobe lights and everything. Random limo things that happened:
- Aaron saying, "This is how Lil Wayne rolls!" and later purchasing a $35 sombrero
- $1 beers
- Miley Cyrus & Katy Perry played on the radio
- Pulling up in front of Kauffman Stadium in said limo
The game was pretty cool. We had dugout seats (Thanks, Shelly!). The Royals lost, I had beer and a good sandwich (Thanks, K!), mustard won in the condiment-races and Kurt and Clay yelled at the players. Definitely the best part of games is the Kiss-cam. After the game, we got picked up by our limo, only after accidentally walking up to the wrong limo and having to walk back to the crowd after Aaron proclaimed that our limo was arriving. Dropped off at Clay's, we then watched an episode of Entourage (didn't really pay attention) while Clay got ready to go out. Once the troops assembled, we walked (ugh, forever) to Power & Light and to Shark Bar. I'm not really into Power & Light, but Shark Bar is pretty nice if you have a good dance partner. Kenny spotted Paul Shirley, and was a bit starstruck, cute. We got back to BS around 3am, exhausted after one of the best days I've had in a long time.
This morning, I dropped K & M to their car and they headed back to no man's land (read: Iowa). I miss him already. I went home and took a fatty nap, talked to Amber on the phone and had dinner at Applebee's for half-priced appetizers with my sisters. We then retired back home where we watched The Secret Life of Bees (really good), House Bunny (silly, but pretty funny) and episodes of SBTB and Full House (always good). During all this, I worked on my website (to be premiered soon). I'm still kinda tired from yesterday so I'll probably watch a few episodes of Mad Men (slowly becoming an addict) and crash for the night.
Days are winding down here in the midwest and I'm getting scared and excited and anxious and ahhh, my tummy hurts thinking about it.
Happy Labor Day, Mom!
