MEGA-UPDATE!

Sorry I've been so bad about updating this thing! I'll try harder.

("I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston just came up on my shuffle. SUCH a dramatic beginning)

I tried to live-blog last night as I was waiting for my bus after work (I missed the top of the hour bus at 10 because I got out of work late so I had to wait like 45+ minutes for the next bus). In that 45 minutes, I gave a homeless woman some pastries from Bottega Louie and talked to some lady who was not wearing pants. Anyway, there must be something wrong with my blog app because it was acting all finicky. It might've had something to do with how I had to reformat my iPhone last week.

ANYWAY.

So last weekend in LA was pretty happenin'. Sorta, I guess. On Wednesday, I had lunch with my friend Lyndsey. Lyndsey trained me back in the day at Sears. It's crazy that we're both in LA/Hollywood now. I took the bus to meet her during her lunch break and we had lunch at Koo Koo Roo, and I had a California wrap. MAN. The greatest thing about CA is that you can get avocados on EVERYTHING. Even though I have a mild allergy to avocados, I can not avoid such a great taste. I ventured around the city after lunch and eventually went home.

Friday, I met Lyndsey for lunch again, this time at Astro Burger! Man, burgers are my favorite food, I think. Astro Burger was pretty good; it was no In-and-Out (something I also had sometime last week) but a burger's a (Kailey) burger. After lunch with Lyndsey, I went downtown to decide between these two studio apartments I'm picking from. I decided on one at the Rosslyn Lofts (fancy name, huh?). I turned in all of my paperwork and such and now it's just the waiting game.

I eventually made it home (I've got the LA transit DOWN) and Brian and I watched some tv. Lyndsey called me and invited me out to hang out with some of her friends. I met Beth (she's a 30-something-year-old-who works with the film/movie industry) and Terese (a recent graphic design grad) both went to school with Lyndsey at MCAD. Beth drove us to Echo Park where they were showing "The Triplets of Belleville," a french animation film. It was really good; though we were a bit late, I still got the jist. There wasn't very much dialogue, but the animation, artwork and music was fantastic.

After Echo Park, we drove back towards Hollywood and went to a bar next to where we live. It looked a bit sketchy. There were no windows and it just had this small neon sign outside of it that read "cocktails." There was close-to-no lighting inside this joint and a PBR cost fuckin' $4 a can. WTF! The place was really chill--like I said, dark, but cozy. I talked to a few interesting people. One of which was this guy named Peter. He's an aspiring actor, surfer and lives in Santa Monica. His smile made my smile look really pathetic. He was...very bodacious-surfer-like, but nice. He told me that he's lived in Hollywood all his life and likes going to that particular bar (the name escapes me) because it's kind of staple in the hills. Apparently it was a hang out for the brat-pack-esque and pretty big in the 60s. This lead to me talking about Mad Men, American Dreams and my overall love for entertainment in the 60s. We shared a hate for Family Guy, but I had to draw the line when he said Dane Cook was funny. After leaving Peter, I talked to this other guy (forgot his name) and I was telling him about the DCD (Dane Cook Dealbreaker) and he asks, "Is that some sort of sex position?" I immediately aborted that conversation.

On Saturday, I woke up with a slight hang-over. It had been awhile since I had drank a bunch (ok, a few days...give me a break). Brian and I walked over to Larchmont for breakfast. 80+ degree weather, sun-beating down on you, dehydrated and hungover does not make for a pleasant walk. The bagels were good and we had Jamba Juice smoothies, yum. We then retired back home and watched A LOT of tv. We watched a marathon of ANTM, I Love Lucy and a lot of MTV's True Life. It was pretty chill. Apparently there was an art show at the subway station downtown, but I didn't feel like going because well, it was just a lazy Saturday. I walked over to a mexican restaurant and bought four memelitas, basically a pita-taco-thing, they were just okay. Eating has just become some sort of mundane task that requires a lot of walking so I haven't been doing it very often (good diet plan, ha). Leah and Brian went out for the night and I was left to enjoy hours and hours of drama in the form of Mad Men. (SUCH A GREAT SHOW) I crashed shortly after.

Brian's been trying to get me to watch "The Wrestler," and I still haven't. Ken Cosgrove and Pete Campbell just keep callin' my name... On Sunday, I went to church. Christ The King in Hollywood, CA. It was only 45 minutes long and the walk was only about 20 or so minutes. I did, however, forget to reload my Tap card (what gets me on all the public transport. I always want to make some sort of "I'd Tap dat" joke) so I had to BOOK IT to the train station right before church. I was only a few minutes late, I didn't even miss the first reading.

I've worked the past few days and have the next three days off. Things are going well at Bottega Louie (shameless plug) and I've finally updated my website, so ch-ch-check check it out!

Adjusting to LA is going alright--I still miss my family and everyone else, but I assume it'll get better with time. As for the K-update (this is just for you, Kurt Munzer), things are going very, very well.

Oh, watch Glee! It's lol-funny.
