Peace out, Hollywood!

It’s kind of sad that my journey through Hollyweird and my summer of kick-assery is over.
I learned a lot and I’m psyched to bring it in to the classroom and to incorporate it in my other work. Oh, I finished my personal logo. It's pretty kickin’:

I know I promised I’d always show my thought-process, but I don’t really feel like doing that at this moment. One, I’m supposed to be packing. Which I’m mostly done with, but due to more interesting things online, I have not completely finished. Anyway, I’m pretty satisfied with the final result. Here’s a little insider-look on what I was thinking concept-wise.

So I made a list of things I wanted to achieve. It went a little something like this:

1. Simple
2. Convert well to b&w
3. Speaks out
4. Incorporate my name
5. Looks good scaled up and down

There were others, but my sketchbook is really far away from me. I kind of took #3 literally and made it into this speech-bubble. I know, I can’t ever just take anything seriously. It’s a play-off of *.jpeg, you know...the file format. It also works well sans my name and “* GRAPHIC DESIGN.” I like how it can be simplified that way. I also like how I can take elements from it and still use it so that the logo is still memorable. For example, I can just use the speech bubble and green outlines. Or I can just use the asterisk. I struggled with making sure that the hierarchy of my initials would be of utmost importance, followed by the hand-written “g” element. There were multiple drafts, maybe I will upload them some day.

Right now, I’m reworking some of my old Truman shit so that I can maybe throw it into my new portfolio. I have also started working pretty extensively on this band I made up for design-purposes “Chicken Rox.” So stay tuned. And expect TONS of puns. It’s going to be totally fowl.

My flight is tomorrow evening at 6:15pm. Bon voyage.
