How I Got Over My Fear of Heights

Well technically, I still have my fear of heights but SIKE! That's not what this post is about. 

I was reading Ashley's blog today and she said, "Rather successful blogging is about indulging yourself and earnestly and avidly posting on the things you are passionate about" (Long c. 06/23/09). With that being said, I am going to talk about my fascination with height.

I've always been attracted to height. When I lived in the Philippines (years 0-5 in my life), I remember sitting in the living room at Pacita Complex and watching television and seeing all of these tall, white people. Fascination. Or fixation? When I moved to KC (year 5), I was enrolled in a private school downtown. I got paired up with this blonde boy, Chris who was like 4 inches taller than I was! Ridic. When I moved to Blue Springs later that year, my kindergarten class included the tallest guy in our grade. His name's Patrick. We became fast friends.

Believe it or not, at one point, I used to be quite the basketball fan. My favorites included:

Grant Hill, 6'8"

MJ, 6'2"

& Reggie Miller, 6'7"

In high school, I was way into the school's varsity pitcher, Darren. He's 6'5" and who knows, maybe he got taller since then.

Last summer, when I lived in LA, I saw Kareem Abdul Jabbar IRL! HE IS SO TALL! Here is a pic I took myself:

My SA (student advisor) freshman year, John Dieter, is also very tall. He is 6'6"!

One more thing:

Even some of my best friends are really tall!

My sister Janessa (pictured on the far right) is pretty tall for a Filipina. It looks like we're about the same height, but I am wearing heals! Don't let her fool you. The average height for a Filipina is 4'11"-5'2" (thanks Yahoo! Answers).
