Hey dudes. I'm going to try to improve on my blogging abilities. Today I had a day off from work. I woke up at around 7am and headed to the gym. Pretty decent work-out, I'd say. K gave me some advice on using some machines. I tried that machine where you do leg curls. Let's just say I'm glad I could bury my face into the mat because I WANTED TO CRY it hurt so bad. Oh well. No pain, no gain, amirite? There's also this new machine that I'm all about, it's like riding a bike but with your arms. I really need to work on my arms. Hey guys, remember that time Sue Limestall told me I went to the rec too much? Ridic. After the gym, I went home, jumped in and out of the shower, chugged my protein shake and talked to K on da phone. We're doing well, for all of you wondering (Kurt). Can't wait to reunite at the end of December. (Cue Peaches & Herb)
After talking to K, I got ready to head to Santa Monica to chat with a creative agency. It was a scenic bus ride. Beverly Hills is so beautiful and chic and I couldn't help but think of D2 when I passed Rodeo Drive. Santa Monica is also beautiful and the weather was pretty perfect. I ventured around Santa Monica and had to refrain from entering a Ray Bans store. OMG, have I told you guys that I think I'm going to treat and splurge on some Ray Bans? I want to buy myself something really, really nice...I know it's unnecessary, but who care, I love buying myself nice things. Okay, quick detour: I'm thinking of buying myself a new computer. I KNOW, I'm out of control. I think I'm only saying I'll buy myself a new computer because buying Ray Bans would be less ridiculous in comparison. See these mind games I play with myself? Do parents still buy you presents after you've moved out? Being an adult is hard.
Alright, so after talking to the rep, I was starvin' and I wanted to grab a burger before heading back home. Panera was closed (wtf?) so I found this small burger shop. BOY WAS I FOOLED when I asked if they had just plain burgers and they looked at me and said they didn't serve red meat. Fucking hippies. But I had already committed to talking to the cashier and I didn't want to feel silly so I spent $10.47 on a stupid turkey burger whose only redeeming quality was it included jalapeƱos and avocados (YUM). Afterwards, I was really craving a real cheeseburger. They also did NOT have fries, but these organic chips that were red. I ventured back to downtown LA. Beverly Hills and Santa Monica were both nice, but I really missed crazy downtown. I got off Main & 6th, right next to my favorite 50s-inspired diner. I go there maybe once a week, they are DA BOMB. I splurged (ugh, reminder to work out harder tomorrow) and got a chocolate/strawberry milkshake. The waitress spoiled me and topped it with whip cream NOM NOM NOM. I took some pics because this blog needs more pics (also, I am diggin' Brit-Brit's "Kill The Lights"). The diner is called "D-Town Burger Bar" they play tons of stuff from Malt Shop Memories. It's small and cute and I totally dig the vibe:
Pretty dead since it was a random Tuesday night. They cook the burgers right in front of you, made to order and they wear really cute uniforms. It's all in the details, man! They even have those cute straw dispensers.
Jukebox and Coca-Cola gear. Isn't it adorable? If you ever visit me, we will definitely go here.
Last week, I hung out with my cousin, Michael. He's back from taking a 3-month hiatus in Cambridge while he took some accounting class at Harvard (nerd). He'll be back in LA working as a CFO of LA's #1 poster-making company until he leaves for Harvard Law next fall (ultimate nerd). We had dinner at The Grove and walked around. It was nice to catch up. We ended up coming back to downtown LA and chillin' at this bar, The Edison (yeah, like the scientist). It was a swanky bar that used to be a factory. They kept all the original architecture so it was pretty sweet. There was a pretty cool jazz combo playing, jazz flute and all. I'm way out of practice: one beer and a few mixed drinks and I was feeling a pretty decent buzz. That or I'm not used to expensive alcohol (kinda miss KV). Almost didn't get in because Kuya Michael was just wearing a v-neck t-shirt, luckily he was wearing a fancy jacket. He was instructed to keep his jacket on because they don't allow people to just wear t-shirts. I was sporting my usual v-neck but didn't get called out because I looked cute. Kidding, I was wearing a scarf so they didn't even notice (SUCKERS!). Note to self: they don't serve Bud Light at swanky bars.
I guess I should get some sleep---I've gotta get to work by 8am, holla!

I forgot to mention that I've been watching Grey's again. I've missed the past two seasons, but I think I'm back up to speed with what's going on. Izzy is really annoying me.
The Edison is one of the hottest places downtown right now (mostly because for so long nothing was downtown) You should feel so chic!!
